how fashionable!

What is one to do when she doesn't have anything fashionable to wear? How about making a very chic' card to compensate?

Just wanted to share this versatile stamp with you from www.toomuchfunrubberstamps.com. Just stamp the image twice on a piece of paper (bottoms together as seen in the pic below).

Cut the image out (as one piece) and fold between the two bottoms. Then, the fun begins! It's time to decorate your purse!

I used embroidery floss and hand stitched on the stamped stitches. Then I added some ribbon trims, a chipboard mini-tag (attached with beads), and some felt, layered flowers with bead centers.

Making these cards is rather addicting...but, then aren't all crafts?

This would be so cute as a beach bag (with a towel sticking out), or a knitting bag (with needles and yarn sticking out), or, or...oh, I'm getting carried away!
My daughter has been stamping this image on piles of patterned paper to get ready to have her friends over for a card making party. This is one, I'm sure the girls will flip over (and me too)!

trying to think Spring

Nothing is blooming around here right now.
Six inches of snow blanket the ground.
We are a long way from spring.
So, I've decided I need to create my own.
This is a very simple (and addicting way) to make some beautiful flowers that you can add to your home, sweaters, scarves, and even cards and pages.

Start with a piece of felt 3 1/2" x 12 " long. Fold it in half the long way (so it is now 1 3/4" x12"), and hot glue where the two edges meet.

Then, snip from the folded edge about every 1/2".

Take one end and start rolling, it helps to add a drop of hot glue every once in awhile to help hold it together.

Boom--you have a bloom!

Once you've done this a few times, you can really start to play around with how big a piece of felt you use and how far apart or how close you snip--it totally changes the outcome.

You can group some blooms to add to a sweater or scarf.

You can use your bloom on a gift tag
(this one is going on a bottle of wine).

Or, you can create a paper tag to use for a gift card envelope (cleverly recycled flattened toilet paper roll).

Now, I want you to be the florist! In each issue of Scrapstreet, my article, Graffiti, looks at popular art for inspiration. For the next issue, I'm looking for ONE BIG FLOWER. Can you guess which famous artist I'll be highlighting?

So, show me ONE BIG FLOWER! You can doodle, stamp, cut, fold, paint, or surprise me with your bloom on your card, scrapbook page, or project, but only use ONE flower. Send your creations to submissions@scrapstreet.com by February 18th.

Check out the other submission calls too... http://scrapstreet.com/ss12/janu12/calls.htm
Turn your mind towards spring!

Love flowers and mist

 Hi all. Gudrun here.

Today I wanted to share my love for flowers and glimmer mist.
It is starting to be fall-like here in Oslo, the capital of Norway, but as I am a real summer person I won't let the flowers and sun go.
I use the rainy autumn days to create some colorful, fun flower projects.
And capture my summer memories.

The layout has white cardstock as a base, and the colorful flowers are mostly based on white paperflowers and mist.
I had SO much fun doing this projects, I wanted to share a little "how to" for you to get inspired.

I started out with a bunch of old, white paper flowers and lots of  mists in different colors and brands.

I colored all the flowers, sprayed them in the rainbow colors, and made little drops and tone-on tone misting on each flower to make them more "real".
When finished I let them dry on a piece of newspaper - to make sure I didn't make any mess any place.

I added the flower to my layout and arranged them with other fabric and paper flowers, brads and bling to make a pretty, "summery" layout.

Thanks for joining me.
And happy fall!

Use your stash!

Hello Scrappers!

A few weeks ago, I needed some flowers for my layout but I didn't have any that matched the layout! So do you wanna guess what I did? I decided to use my stash to make my own! If your like me, you probably have a bowl of beautiful ribbon that you never touch... So why not challenge yourself this month and create your very own flowers! I also topped the flowers off with a few buttons. You know those buttons that you can't use on your layout because of the loop in the back... use those on your flowers! Don't they look fun? I love how they turned out! I simply used the mini staple by Tim Holtz to staple the ribbon on a die cut circle in the form of loops and swirls.

Check back on Tuesday 8/2/2010 to see how these flowers were used on an awesome layout! I can't wait to share it with you :)

Have a wonderful day!
