Print those cards!

Cards for Heroes is a non-profit organization that supports our nation's Armed Forces by sending blank, hand-made cards overseas for our soldiers to write home on, as well as, cards of gratitude to encourage them.

ScrapStreet is running our second annual card drive. We have a goal of 1000 cards this year to make the lives of our soldiers and their families just a little brighter. At the end of three weeks of challenges, we will all ship our cards into our leader--and military wife--Bri.

Today our first special Wednesday Guest:

Karen Russell, a military wife herself, has recently stepped back from teaching scrapbooking classes and designing scrapbooking products to focus on teaching photography classes full time. She has offered this AMAZING prize to one lucky winner in today’s challenge at ScrapStreet's Cards For Heroes contest:

a seat in her next photography class!!!!!

If you have not read anything about this class or seen the amazing photos that come OUT of this class, you need to check it out here: Snapshots of a Good Life.

So head on over to Karen’s blog and get involved in the challenge!!!! You will have from now until Sunday, August 16th at midnight to submit your cards!!! You may upload your creations to the CFH Gallery here.

Create Pantone's Spring Fashion Colors Swatch

Pantone's fashion color palette for Spring '09 would translate so well in Digital Scrapping, don't you think? Use your eye dropper tool in Photoshop to create a swatch from the colors above. Be sure to click on the image for a larger image.

Each season, Pantone surveys designers showing at New York Fashion Week to collect feedback on prominent collection colors, color inspiration, color philosophy and each designer's signature shade. The result is the Pantone Fashion Color Report, which this season reveals a colorful, optimistic Spring 2009 filled with vibrant pops of color set against deeper, translucent neutral tones.

Blue & purple lead the top 10 hues for spring '09, rounded out by lush greens which evoke a sense of renewal and a fresh start. Sophisticated neutrals ground the overall palette, providing visual stability in an economic climate that is anything. "New York's fashion designers encourage hopeful attitudes with lively colors, while sophisticated, grounded hues address the need for stability in times of economic uncertainty," explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

The Top 10 Spring 2009 colors for women are:

PANTONE 18-4043 Palace Blue
PANTONE 15-3817 Lavender
PANTONE 14-0754 Super Lemon
PANTONE 15-1626 Salmon Rose
PANTONE 18-2328 Fuchsia Red
PANTONE 14-1307 Rose Dust
PANTONE 16-5804 Slate Gray
PANTONE 16-6339 Vibrant Green
PANTONE 16-0435 Dark Citron
PANTONE 14-5714 Lucite Green

Just wanting to celebrate a bit of Life, so much doom and gloom within the world, but have you ever stopped, stopped and watched in silence the world around you? What wonder is there in what you view right now? Take a minute or two to observe, really listen, then think about what we see in that snapshot of life.

This morning, as usual I was washing the dishes, looking out the window, which faces our courtyard and where there is a bird table, and I stopped as I always do to look at what birds were there .

The collection of different species of birds that have been there within the last 24 hours was more than I have ever noticed before. I have recently been putting out sunflower hearts as well as bread scraps, oats wheat and lentils and peas all of which have devoted fans. Now a friend advised me about sun flower hearts and had said if i want to attract gold finches then put out sunflower hearts.I have had such a fantastic array of little feathered friends come visit

Green finches,

great tits,

A pair of goldfinches were doing some kind of courting ritual flying around together, playing hard to get then flying after the mate then doing the most amazing upward twirling flight together I have ever seen.

Bluetits, chaffinch and one singular bullfinch(resting on my budding cherrytree) pied wagtail, robins and numerous small brown birds I don't know the name of and call sparrows.

this is just a list of the small birds that have graced the table within the lastperiod of time of putting out food.

Three blackbirds 2male 1 female have been claiming territorial rights, starlings by the pack have descended and flown to call their pals back for a feast. A pair of collared doves have perched themselves very precariously on the roof of the bird house atop the table. and from time to time a jay has been seen bobbing in and out of the branches behind the wall.

All ducked low as a Magpie swooped in low, he soon lost interest and moved on..

I stopped and listened and the birdsong was like an amazing conversation of delight , satisfaction and warnings. I moved as I wiped the dishes just now and well I just broke that magic spell and they all went their way, until later.

Just some pleasures in life can be so simple, don't you agree??
