Something a little scary

For this Halloween project, I decided to make something a little scary for you! It was just a little scary for me too...I had never made a home decor collage project. Although, all scrapbook pages are sort of a collage, and I've made banners, this was different for me. Lots of steps and layers were a bit intimidating, and I placed and re-placed and positioned and re-positioned all of the elements a zillion times before I started gluing. I started by arranging (and re-arranging) an assortment of Halloween stamps onto my Fiskars stamp press as seen below.

Then, I stamped randomly on some white tissue paper using black Stazon ink.

I glued the tissue onto a thick piece of cardstock and then, I started inking with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Stain...more randomness

I started punching and cutting...I spy with my little eye Fiskars Grandma's Doily, a small cloud (as clouds and ghosts), and a small bare tree.  I used my Fiskars Ultra Shape Xpress to cut the large tree from the Fiskars Woodland Tree Template.   And, I also used a Martha Stewart fence border punch as well as letters cut from a Sizzix Alpha die. The checkerboard-like, flocked paper for the tree is from My Mind's Eye.

 

Then the arranging and layer began (that part lasted a long time). Finally gluing.

Use Your Stash!

Hi, its Veronica here and today I want to share with you a Halloween mini album.  The entire album was made from my left over stash!  I love using up my stash ... it gives me such satisfaction to know that I am not wasting and I believe it makes me more creative.

There are so many bits and pieces from different lines of paper in this album, some of them are:

I try and use stash whenever possible and it can be easily done.  How you ask?  There are just a three basic rules that I follow.  First I match the theme, which in this case is Halloween.  I also make sure each facing page matches; so that when you open your album the pages flow together.

Second, I always choose one base color that will flow throughout the album.  This method is easy on the eyes and helps with the cohesive look of the album.

 Notice how the patterns are not from the same collection but they both have the color black.

Third, when choosing patterns for my mini I try and stick to 2-3 colors in the pattern only.  So in this case with the Halloween album, I chose orange and yellow with an accent of green splattered here and there.

Recycled altered box k-cup holder

Today I wanted to share a little project that I made using some packaging from some Prima flowers. They came in this cool plastic box, which I saved. I decided to use it to make a gift of K-cups for someone. 6 k-cups fit in here just about perfectly. (I added a little padding in between the bottom and top layers to fill it out better)

The paper, chipboard, button and pins are My Mind's eye. I used my Lacy Labels cricut cartridge to cut out the scalloped circle and the green detail. The stamps are Joy's Life, stamped with clearsnap stephanie barnard dye ink. I then colored in the image with some prismacolor markers.

Celebrating the 4th with a trip down memory lane

Second only to me, my husband gets in the least amount of scrapbook pages I make. Poor dear, seems to lose out to the kids and the dogs most of the time. BUT, this time....it's all about him! He is the grill master at our house, and in these photos he's showing off the fabulous Father's Day apron that the kids created for him (it says "King of the Grill").

Over at Scrap Our Stash, the July challenge is "stars and stripes" and I knew that these pictures of the grill master would be perfect. These fabulous 2-sided, red/white/blue patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye and I am so proud of myself for not hiding them away to save for "something special". I have a tendency to do that with papers I love---I know it makes no sense, it's just silly ol' me.

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE making pinwheels!

I could put them on everything I make right now I think they are so cool! Maybe, because it reminds me of the 4th of July parades when I was little...my dad would attach metallic red, silver, and blue pinwheels to my handlebars and they would spin while I would ride. I couldn't find a picture that had those pinwheels on it, but I did dig up an old 4th of July picture of me and one of my brothers. In this picture (I think it is 1976), I had decided to decorate my doll buggy rather than a bike. I am groovy!

You Have My Smile

Hi, its me again Veronica with a layout I did of my daughter Vanessa and I.  I just love this photo because first it brings back great memories of my wedding; but also the love I have for my daughter.  She has my smile and she is a big part of my inspiration to create.
Now to the layout, I used an electic array of paper and techniques.  One of "go to" techniques when I design is to layer.  I love to layer and give depth to my work.  I also used acrylic paints, glimmer mist, distress inks, glossy accents, silk paints, stencils and stamps.

Because I had plenty of extra ... I also made a card.  Hope you enjoy :)

I "Heart" You

Love is in the air ... I have two loves that my heart belongs to. My husband and my daughter. I wanted to share these layouts with that mind. These photos were not taken on Valentine's Day but they represent the story I wanted to tell.

I decided to use the Basic Grey collection "Kissing Booth" and also My Mind's Eye "Love Me". I liked the soft pink, red and vanilla color pallette. I also used the "Little Black Dress" collection for the card below.
